Lucy’s already been with us for half of a year, and I can’t believe it! I can’t believe that last Fall, she was swimming in this very same dress, and now it’s practically just a baby blouse. I can’t believe she has tooth poking through, and I can’t believe the sounds she makes resemble words! So much to not believe. Right now, my favorite thing in the world is making her laugh, and she fills my heart with joy, when she isn’t making my head explode with one of her fits. I can’t wait ’till two. Sigh.

My, don’t babies grow fast! (Not to mention, this one’s hair.) Each month I rummage through her drawers and closet to make sure I don’t miss the opportunity to dress Lucy in the things I had bought for her almost a year ago. I just packed away her 0-3 month clothes (!!!), and at 5 months old, she’s finally starting to fit into 3-6 month clothes. It’s such a treat rediscovering the fun things I had found at the thrift store shortly after we learned I was pregnant with a baby girl. During my pregnancy, I had often imagined what my baby would look like, and tried to picture her wearing the clothes I found. Now that she’s finally here, and growing into new stages all the time, I couldn’t be more excited! Little girls sure are fun to dress, and I’m enjoying every minute of it!

I had this nagging fear the entire time I was pregnant. I didn’t worry too much about our baby’s healthy, about the pain of labor, or about transitioning into a life of being a diaper-changer. I worried that maybe I wouldn’t like being a mom as much as I had hoped. I wondered if I’d be able to happily give up my selfish lifestyle and enjoy taking care of a kiddo, 24-7.

Well, folks- good news! I love being a mom! I don’t know what I was so worried about. (Maybe it was the thought of postpartum depression, which thankfully never happened to me.) Lucy brings so much joy to my life. I feel like my biggest goal every day is just to make her giggle. Sometimes, admittedly, it’s just to get her to stop screaming or crying. But good gracious, I love carrying her around all day. I love changing her diapers (no, really!). And you guys… I love getting her dressed for the day. It’s the little things, I suppose. But they all add up to one big gigantic feeling of LOVE. She’s my funny Valentine, for sure! (P.S. Speaking of funny, I joined Vine!)
