I’ve been rearranging.

Living room 2

In the midst of the redecorating of my bedroom, I’ve been rearranging the living room.  I haven’t gotten it quite right, and I’m still deciding if we should have curtains on the window behind the sofa.  Right now the window treatment is simply a diffusing shade that cranks up and down.
A few things I don’t like…
1. the lampshade on the side table.
2. the orange and taupe pillows on the sofa.
3. the way the floor lamp interferes visually with the wall hanging.
4. the empty corner that I filled with pictures frames, a magazine basket, and floor pillows.
5. the fact that the fireplace is still unfinished.
6. the cable box and speakers. (the cable box I can live with, the speakers are totally a man thing.)
The far corner is awfully awkward, because we can’t move the little cabinet that houses our electrical equipment, or else the wires won’t reach the television, which is mounted about the fireplace.  So it leaves this awkward space that is too small for a chair, but too big to be empty.  It’s the reason we’ve always had the sofa at an angle.
So this is what the living room looks like currently.  (And this is what it used to look like.)

Thursday’s are for thrifting.

It's not a rule that I've set for myself, just a rule of nature, I suppose.  It seems I've been getting Thursdays off work a lot recently, and so I take advantage of the days by thrifting!  Yesterday I snagged up some lovely pieces of vintage jewelry.

Jewelry

I normally don't purchase jewelry from Goodwill, because they always seem so overpriced.  Why buy a ring for eight dollars when I can buy 4 tops at the Salvation Army for that price?  But these pieces stole my heart.  …And twenty-one of my dollars.

I also picked up a cute yellow bowl.  I dumped Phil's change collection into it, and still had coins leftover.  Really?  I think it's about time he rolls those and takes me out to dinner, don't you?

Change

Oh, and by the way, I'm almost finished redecorating my bedroom.  I'm still deciding whether or not I want to replace the dim Urban Outfitters chandelier that pathetically serves as our main source of light in the evenings.  Oh yes, and curtains.  I need to motivated myself to make some curtains. Oh, and did I tell you?  I have new furniture in my bedroom!  Well… not new, the dresser's are most likely 50 years old.  But they're new to us!  More to come, to be sure.

Bedroom

Today,

you can find me at AOL home's Shelter Pop blog.  I was oh so flattered when Jaime asked me if I would mind if she featured my home in an article.  Of course not!

BEDROOM

The timing was a bit funny, though.  I had literally just began redecorating my bedroom the very same weekend Jaime asked for the images of it.  I'm hopefully going to find time to make curtains this weekend.  And then I will take some shots of the redo to share with you all!
