Tattoo Talk

Tattoo2

Last night I began the sketch for my next tattoo. Back in the day when I first thought of such a tattoo, my brother said to me "Ah yes. That looks like the letterpress coaster Mikey Burton designed." "Mikey Burton?" I asked with curiosity, as I was thinking of the Mikey who went to the same small (25 graduating students) school as me and my brother. "Yes. Mikey Burton."

The following events were so coincidentally shocking, that I feel this tattoo is even more destined. I googled our high school friend Mikey Burton and quickly discovered that he has "made it" in the design world. How awesome! So, beaming with pride for him, I checked out his website and saw the Ohio letterpress coaster he designed. Shock. So similar to what I was thinking for my own tattoo! (I later decided to have more of a script style to my design in order to make it my own and to achieve a more feminine style.) But wait. There is more. Checking out more of his work, I saw that the very same poster I hung in my brother's bedroom when I was styling it last November is designed by Mikey!

Ah! Apparently we are of like mind. And I feel that this tattoo is destined to be. Eta? Sometime in June.

I'm pretty much super excited for this event. And I am literally counting down the days. It's about time, Cleveland! So all of you local (and semi-local!) friends, I hope to see you there!

Akron Art Walk

Phil and I are so strapped for cash these days, we have been jumping at the chance for any fun free activities. Fortunately, there are always fun things to do in Akron, and sometimes they are even free! We enjoyed all of the open galleries last Saturday evening and even hopped on the trolley to view the galleries in Northside Akron.

Alas, we didn't stop at the wine bar (which you can see in the rear of the photo above), but many of the galleries participating in the art walk had hors d'oeuvres. Free, fun, and food!

So the key word to this date night was "free." But I couldn't resist grabbing a latte and settling down for a bit at Angel Falls. It was one of those scrounging-your-purse-for-enough-change moments. I know they say that someday we will treasure the memories of the "poor days." But I really think that I already do.
