Wardrobe Wednesday- Pastels

June_30

I suppose most girls are self conscious of their legs. But one can only wear so many dresses until it's comes time to bare the legs in summertime shorts! Today was that time.

I had no idea that these shorts would fit me, until I listed them in the shop last night and saw the measurements! Handy! It's surprising how many things in my shop actually fit me, and I never realize it until they have sold.

For me, one of the fun things of having a vintage shop is being able to experiment with different styles and color palettes. I think, perhaps, pastels may work for me! I try not to get too tan in the summer- gotta keep that young look, yeah? But the garage sale last week gave me a bit of a glow. And, a farmers tan. Ahhh! So, I will admit, the shorts were more than just a "it's hot" decision. They were more like a "let's get rid of this farmer's tan" decision. Ah, summertime.

Moving Day!

_MG_2961b

Moving day is fast (and I mean Speedy Gonzales fast!) approaching us! As in, tomorrow is moving day. And we're still getting the apartment ready! Not to mention we haven't really begun packing. The living room closet still smells like cat pee, there are still walls needing mended, the trim throughout is only halfway painted, and the kitchen cupboard doors are still at my dad's workshop awaiting a paint job. Yikes!

The good news? The landlord is finally going to replace the floor in the living room closet, dad is painting the cabinets this week, and tonight is painting night at the apartment to put the last coat of paint on the trim. The rest will just have to wait, I suppose. Sigh. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate waiting for things? (Except for packing, of course. I will always put off packing.) (Oh, and speaking of waiting, Wardrobe Wednesday will be up later tonight!)

Apartment Hunting! Again.

_MG_1466b

Remember last year when Phil and I went apartment hunting for a new home? Well, we just weren't ready to leave the area at the time. And so we stayed. But guess what? We're finally ready and we are going to be moving out of my brother's home here in a month or so.

In fact, we think we may have already found "the one!" I've gotta say, I've driven by these apartments since I was a child, dreaming of someday living in the gorgeous castle-like building. And now it's quite exciting that we may actually have that chance! As you can see, the apartment's architecture is very much in the style of Tudor-Revival. I mean, just check out that ginormous carved fireplace! So I can definitely foresee my style evolving during the two years of our lease. Maybe a bit more of the Arts & Crafts style I was talking about a couple of months ago?

We filled out an application with the manager (I think he's also the owner), who I was so happy to see is a very nice guy who actually knows Phil's parents. So rad. He has even given me permission to paint the trim white and do some work in the kitchen, if things work out that we get the apartment. Fingers crossed!
