Unexpected Delights

Kyle's-giftsb

The other day Kyle called me and said he found an amazing dead stock jacket. Cool. We find deadstock jackets all the time. But he thought it was awesome enough to drive directly to my house and give it to me. So glad he did. It fits perrrrrfectly and looks awesome with 1950s fitted waist dresses. Now I understand the awesomeness! But seriously, how awesome of a friend is he? He also brought over this Snow White-esque fur and rad turquoise backpack. Yaaaay!

So I went a little crazy.

This is what happens when you let me into a thrift store. I leave with boxes of vintage glassware. Which I do not need. And for which I do not have room in my cupboards. But lucky for me, last month (when I was at a thrift store, once again) I purchased that lovely china cabinet which has been so lonely with only a row of books to fill its insides.

I seriously need to get my new vintage shop launched. The amount of lovely goods piling up at my house is outrageous! If you haven’t been following me on Twitter, you might not know that I have decided to work full time on an online vintage shop. I have changed the name and have a new image in mind that will translate well into a real brick and mortar shop here in a year or two.

And the new shop is debuting THIS WEEK! Oh yes. Even tomorrow if I get things finished in time. Hooray!

Fate is tempting me.

Hutch

With my internship nearing its close I've been struggling with the desire to be an eight-to-five career woman. People ask me what I want to do, and I tell them sheepishly that I would like to be my own buyer, manager, and head of marketing for a vintage shop. This is what I love. The hunt. Last week I went thrifting for the first time in months! Months I tell you! I walk into the store and not only do I find a shopping cart full of awesome clothes (which will be up in the shop in a week or so), but this beautiful hutch was staring me in the face. I'm telling you, this might be a sign. This is my calling in life. But if it's not, I still find the concept awfully tempting.

We've placed the little hutch in the entryway, although to be honest, I'm not quite sure what to put inside of it. I'm thinking it would a good place to keep store merchandise! I'm telling you… it. is. a. sign. But for now, I shall keep myself preoccupied with finding a home for all of the art which has been displaced by the grand hutch. Step by step, people.
