Last weekend I tried something new. Well, a couple of new things, actually. I tried a 50mm lens, which I borrowed from Alex, lead singer for a local band, Variance. And I also tried my hand at shooting a live show. For Variance. It turns out I didn't use the 50mm lens much at all, but I did enjoy the difficult task of shooting a show from the sidelines. You can't exactly tell the guys what to do or how to stand. A bit frustrating, and challenging in a good way.

I also enjoyed the music of A Minor Bird, Searbird, and Sherwood. But I didn't take any pictures of them… because for some reason I feel silly taking pictures in public when I'm not doing so "professionally." Like I can't take pictures of the band unless I'm "with the band" Or else I will look like some groupie girl. I don't know. I'm weird. :)

I'm not a big fan of horses. Like in person. They are stinky and kind of scary, in my opinion. Although I will admit they might be pretty to look at. And apparently they are pretty to listen to as well. I've noticed a strange common thread in my iTunes playlist lately. Horses.

Sadly, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse committed suicide last week. So sad. A life ended before its time. He made some beautiful music.

Neko love isn't hard to come by 'round these parts. Her music is one of those rare finds that melds perfectly with my own soul. The kind of music I would wish for should someone put a soundtrack to my life.

Beautiful gig posters to boot. My oh my. So, just when I thought she couldn't get any more perfect in my mind, she went and had to be the guest programmer on TCM! Seriously? Seriously.

Neko, I love you. I love your black hat. I love Middle Cyclone. And I think we should be friends.
