Fine & Dandy Update

Preview-210b

I just added these pretty little things to Fine & Dandy's Etsy shop! I've recently been doing an atrocious job of keeping things up to date, so hopefully I can put my dress form to good use and get some pictures of the lovely vintage clothes I have lounging around my apartment. :) In the meantime, this is the last of the modeled clothing I have until Summer. Enjoy!

Project Restyle: Men’s Shirt into a Pretty Skirt

Restyle-before-and-after

I’m pretty excited about Elsie & Rachel‘s Project ReStyle going on this year. I participated by making this men’s western shirt into a nice summer skirt for myself. It might look a little wonky on the dressform, but that’s because I had to pin it to fit that teeny frame. I can’t wait to wear it with my newly found Victorian corset cover (with a slip underneath, of course.)!

The process of the transformation was as easy as chopping off the top of the shirt, and taking in the sides of the shirt a little at the top. Last, I added a strip of fabric from the sleeves to the top, adding a button enclosure. I’m not very good at button holes, but I suppose it doesn’t matter because it’ll just be covered up by a belt. :)

Fine & Dandy at Canton’s First Friday

IMG_1983

Well, guys! I did it! I actually had a successful booth at an icy downtown event in Canton (Ohio). Not a lot of people knew about the building being occupied, because it’s been empty in all of its 1970s glory for quite a while, before the non profit business took ahold of the space for their new offices. Renovations will be starting soon, but in the meantime, I’ll be there with Fine & Dandy merch every First Friday event in the next months to come.

A lot of teeny-bopper scenester kids were there for the local bands that were playing in the next room. Not exactly my demographic, but I did make four sales, and I thought that wasn’t half bad for nobody really knowing about the event, or wanting to brave the February weather to come downtown.

Fortunately a lot of my friends were there, and my husband, who was of the utmost help setting up, and my crochet work. Yep, I was the grannyish girl in her mid-twenties, trying to sell things to a bunch of teenagers. :) It was loads of fun, though. After everything was shutting down, I met with friends for drinks, and paid with my wad of one dollar bills. Classy.
