Fine & Dandy at Canton’s First Friday

IMG_1983

Well, guys! I did it! I actually had a successful booth at an icy downtown event in Canton (Ohio). Not a lot of people knew about the building being occupied, because it’s been empty in all of its 1970s glory for quite a while, before the non profit business took ahold of the space for their new offices. Renovations will be starting soon, but in the meantime, I’ll be there with Fine & Dandy merch every First Friday event in the next months to come.

A lot of teeny-bopper scenester kids were there for the local bands that were playing in the next room. Not exactly my demographic, but I did make four sales, and I thought that wasn’t half bad for nobody really knowing about the event, or wanting to brave the February weather to come downtown.

Fortunately a lot of my friends were there, and my husband, who was of the utmost help setting up, and my crochet work. Yep, I was the grannyish girl in her mid-twenties, trying to sell things to a bunch of teenagers. :) It was loads of fun, though. After everything was shutting down, I met with friends for drinks, and paid with my wad of one dollar bills. Classy.

Mandi! So sorry I couldn’t be there. I did get your e-mail and I’m hoping I can make it next time! If you need help with anything, let me know!

  2. At least you sold 4 things! The last event we sold at was really terrible promoted and we didn’t sell a single thing! UGH. That can be so frustrating. Hope your next sale is better.
    XOXO

Whoo-hoo! Way to go. Your setup looks great.

  5. That floral suitcase definitely has its character noticed! I thought it was up for sale, too. I wish I could go visit your booth next Friday. I’m eyeing on that shoulder bag before that blue-striped skirt. It is so vintage and classy, just the way I like my bags to be.

Good for you! It is always a bit scary to put yourself out there but it sounds like it was a great success. I did my first booth at our local winter farmer’s market a few weeks ago and it was so much fun – made quite a few sales and handed out a lot of cards. Even one sale is worth it in my opinion. :)

I so wish I lived closer.. I would of been there!! You find the BEST vintage! I vend all summer at a local market so I know the “classy” feeling of paying with singles! Lol! ;)

  8. Ooh I would’ve loved to be there and look through all your stuff in person! Like maybe if those grey or peach shoes were my size :)

  9. Ohhh I can’t wait to go to First Friday next month!! I keep missing it and I have a lovely friend who keeps asking me to go. Now, I absolutely have to. Good for you making a few sales in this icy cold Ohio weather. I bet you’ll do really well when it starts warming up a bit!

Hey! I think you may or may not have tried to take a candid of me that night. I should’ve introduced myself, but I guess I was feeling a little shy.
If it helps I was wearing a brown leather skirt and a denim shirt.
