Anna Karina

Wise friends in my life tell me I am obsessed with vintage films, clothing, and actresses because I want to live in a make-believe world. Maybe they’re right. Most days, they are right. But in a real down to earth way, isn’t Anna Karina beautiful? And she sure knows how to wear a hat. I’m taking notes.

Well aren’t they just the cutest.

I love these two. Her cute purse and fun styling, his rumpled clothes and big bow tie. They look quite hip, yet all the while keeping it classic with neutrals and vintage pieces. I think most of all I love his hair and 1940s styled mustache. It’s so Errol Flynn. Or Laurence Olivier as Maxim de Winter.

And this is coming from a non mustache lover. Oh my… what if they came back? Again? I’m not sure how I feel about the topic. Love it or hate it?

Julie Christie

The movie was called Darling. The actress was Julie Christie. It was one of those movies that struck a chord deep within me. I can’t really explain why or how, but it affected me more than any film I’ve ever seen. I could really relate to Julie Christie’s character. She wanted so much from life, but never really knew what it was… and then I think she realized that everything she had wanted had passed her by. I have this hidden fear that someday that will happen to me. The emotions I felt after watching this film were so surprising. And I still can’t stop thinking about it. So, maybe it would stand to reason that I am now obsessed with the 1960’s Julie Christie.

I think she might be my new style icon. And now I’m on the hunt to see more of the films she was in during the ’60’s. Any suggestions, dear friends?

P.S., I had this post scheduled to run a week ago, and on Monday, I was surprised to see that Danielle Thompson had posted about Julie Christie and Darling as well! Such kindred spirits, I’d say!
