Contrary to popular belief instilled to us by movies such as Bambi, spring is NOT necessarily a time for love to run rampant. Okay, maybe I should rephrase that statement. Spring is NOT the best time for a wife. Women are destined to begin feeling crappy about their bodies when faced the the prospect of swimsuit shopping, and therefore withdraw somewhat physically because of their insecurities. What’s more, is that the shopping that IS done with the launch of Spring lines in the stores puts further strain on the family budget. Don’t get me wrong- my marriage is doing well. But gosh darn it I don’t know how cause I went and did it again yesterday. I spent 150 dollars on clothes. BUT (bit butt!) I got an awful lot- three jackets, one pair of jeans, two pairs of shorts, and a new handbag! Thank you T.J. Max! (hey, I’m not ashamed!)
I have been inspired by Kara’s Art is Found blog, and also by my recent shopping binges, to create a book about my possible addiction. I used the cardboard sign from my easter picture and created the bone of the book with that and an orban outfitters bag. I’ve got a lof of work to do yet, but here’s a sneak peak!
And while we’re on the topic of the happiness of marriages (are we?) I wanted to share an excerpt from the recent Reader’s Digest on how to be Green (environmentally friendly, not the color!). This cracked me up, and I’m pretty sure they meant it seriously. Oh well here’s what I read:
"Happy in your marriage? Turns out staying together is better for the earth. Converting one hosuehold into 2 means bigger bills and therefore more greenhouse gases."
Okay, I’m sorry if this is offensive to anybody (sorta) but I thought this was hilarious. To stay with somebody when it’s not working out- just to help the environment? Maybe they were just trying to come up with another item for the list, but it got a little chuckle outta me!
I recently have been become quite acquainted with waste. In the past three days I spent possibly 20 hours, but probably 15, wasting this:
And if you’re curious as to what I was doing… you’ll have to wait cause I haven’t taken a picture of it yet! I’m waiting until I can get some daylight to shoot it. Anyways, I’m pretty proud of my project and I’ll be posting it next time! Until then, I’m just happy to be wearing flip flops… and a little caught off guard that Panera just started playing the theme song from Gone With the Wind…?! French Onion soup has never been more dramatic.
