Living life from one browser window to the next.

The-Outdoor-Wife

Well, it's been a while since I've neglected this blog so much. First things first. Wedding season has begun! I've been spending weekends at weddings, and weekdays editing photos. In addition, on the design front, I've been pouring myself into making dream blogs for fun clients. Sometimes it's frustrating to think that I can't just open up the mind of a person, see exactly what they want, and give them the most beautiful version of it possible. Other times, I get lucky and get it just right. Couldn't be happier!

I would love for you all to check out the soulfull home of my most recent client, Nish. Check out her reactions to our experience here, and if you decide to explore her home, be prepared for a lot of heartfelt writing- quite a refreshing experience.

So, in addition to being a part of others' dreams come true (weddings), helping friends' blog dreams come true (design work), I've been dreaming my own dreams and grasping for the time to make them happen. So, I apologize for being so vacant around here in the recent days, but I'll be back with a vegence next week. Thanks, loves!

Hey friends! For those of you who visit me in your reader, I thought I would spread the news that Here's Looking at Me, Kid has a brand new design that just debuted! Be sure to wander around and check out the new features. Some of the changes include a search option at the top of the page, scrolling posts, more organized categories listing for your browsing pleasure, as well as a prominent sponsors position at the top right corner of the main page.

We're still working out the kinks, but everything should be squeaky clean in good time. If you are interested in blog design services, I have good news for you that I will be sharing soon! And if you are interested in sponsoring this blog, click on the image below for more information. Thanks!

my final project

Perspective

I'm finished! I'm done! I'm out! I'm graduating. Hooray. Yesterday was my last presentation as an interior design student. I mentioned before that I was designing a vintage shop. So I thought I would share some of my presentation images, since some of you might find it interesting (I'm sparing you from my healthcare facility and other tedious projects!). Keep in mind that there will be lots of merchandise added which adds to the vintage flair of the space. My favorite feature is hat box mobile display over the table at the entry. I wish I had more time to illustrate it properly! But without further ado…

Floorplans

Clothing will hang in most of the fixtures you see on the floor, but some of the fixtures are tables upon which displays will be arranged by visual merchandisers. Also, antique furniture will be utilized as fixtures, such as the armoire in the front space and a vintage credenza altered for use as a cash desk.

Design concept

The concept for the aesthetic was for the space to be much like a hostel courtyard, with the back spaces to be like the inside of an old hostel- vintage wallpaper and all. The front space is the courtyard area and the materials are various building materials in weathered condition.

Elevation

Here is a rough rendered elevation of what the space would look like from the entry. I'm not a big fan of elevation drawings, because they do not give a correct sense of the dimension of space. However… it was a requirement… so, yeah. :)

I'm sure you aren't surprised to know that I could go on and on about this project and share many more images! But I think I just need to let it go. Although I do wish I had taken a photograph of my finishes board that I used in my presentation. It's so much fun to see all of the colors and patterns together in one place. Alas, I waited until the last minute to prepare it and didn't have proper lighting to photograph the board.

But hooray! It's over! I'm quite a happy camper, although I can say with quite certainty that I shall sorely miss design school and my comrades. Sigh.
