WHAT LUCY WORE: Prospective Schoolgirl
I was 9 weeks pregnant and just had my first gummy bear ultrasound to bring on a lunch date with Kara. Of course, our topic of conversation was baby names. And I couldn’t think of a baby girl name I liked. “What about Lucille?” Kara suggested. Hmmm… I loved it! I texted Phil immediately with the same question. And what did he have to say?
“No.”
“No?”
“Absolutely no.”
“Why?”
“I’ll give you two reasons why. Lucille One and Lucille Two.”
His reference to the two wacky Arrested Development characters only gave me pause for a moment. So I tucked away the name Lucille in the back of my mind, bringing it up again a couple of months later. This time Phil said, “You know? I kind of love it!” Eventually we shortened our babe’s name to just Lucy (on her birth certificate), but I thought we could pay homage to Kara’s suggested name with her little doll that reminds me of the beloved comedian, Lucille Ball. And now you know…. the rest of the story.

Lucy (as well as Lucille) is a beautiful name. You probably hear this often but Lucy is THE cutest baby I’ve seen. Her remarkable amount of hair and stunning eyes really make my heart melt!

I’ve never seen that show, but that conversation sounds so interesting and it is cool how things turned out and ideas changed for Phil regarding the name Lucille! I think about the fact that Lucille is also a famous guitar name (BB King). It is going to be cute to see how the Lucilles look as they grow together!! hehe.
