WHAT LUCY WORE: Purple Panda

Phil and I joke about starting a hair comment college fund for Lucy. Each time someone remarks on her hair, they put a dollar in the jar. When the comments stop coming in, we invest the money in some medium risk mutual funds, and by her senior year of high school, she’s ready for 4 years of Harvard. Or Yale. We’re not picky. I mean, this kiddo’s probably going to be a genius. Her first sentence is bound to be a doozie: “Well, would ya look at all that hair!”
O U T F I T D E T A I L S :
Sweater: Baby Gap | lace collar onesie: thrifted Children’s Place | headband: made by Mama
pants: second-hand Gymboree | socks: second-hand | panda: antique

This is hilarious. I mean… look at that hair!
My mom said that when people commented on my crazy mane as a baby, she would respond with “It’s actually a wig, I think bald babies are weird looking.” Mine was jet black just like Lucy’s, and then turned light brown, always stayed super thick though! She is super sweet, Mandi…you are so blessed!
(We’d be rich if we had a dollar for every time someone says, “Wow, she is such a serious baby!” The girl is just unimpressed with everyone I suppose!)
I was amazed when I saw how thick your hair was in your baby picture! I’m sure your mom had plenty of opportunities to come up with creative responses to comments. haha
I cannot even deal with the level of cuteness right now. SO MUCH HAIR! And that bow in it! *sigh*
She is so cute! And that hair is to die for :)
She is such a beautiful baby, I get broody every time I see her!
You dress her so nicely as well.
Remind me to show you photos of Megan…I wish we would have thought of the dollar in the jar! She could have had school paid for through her doctorate! Beautiful baby girl…I’m enjoying watching her grow!
For me the comment on repeat is (upon hearing he is 3 months old), “Wow, he is a really big baby!”
…Thanks, because I wasn’t sure.
Love her little outfit with that bow! So sweet :)
Actually. . I do know one other woman, who is a former classmate of mine who has a baby girl who had THE SAME amount of hair. I used to say to her how I never saw so much hair on a baby before, and then you had Lucy with the same amount. Her daughter is about a year and a half old now and she still has loads of hair and is so gorgeous. aw. I love babies and hair. My sons looked funny when they were babies. . .Leto had lost all of his hair other than the bit around the bottom of his head so he looked like an old man with a comb-over. His hair was reddish blonde and once it all fell out it started growing in looking like a feather (big bird fluff hair). So funny. Poor thing. Now he has such crazy thick hair!!! My other son Micah was born with loads of black hair, but it all fell out so quickly and turned blonde. His hair is much thinner than Leto’s, so it is so strange how that happened! They both got, “I never saw a baby with such huge eyes!” . . .they still get the huge eyes comments, but not as much. It will stop in time, but I laughed in reading about your hair fund jar. haha. So cute. Lucy’s great. Love her outfit.
You guys made one of the cutest babies EVER. Ahhhh!

Well, at least you probably don’t get endless “Is it a boy or a girl comments” though! Lucy is so cute here. You can just already see her personality shining through even though they are just pictures.
haha Believe it or not, I still get those! I don’t mind, though. It’s just a baby. It’s not like she will get offended. (I think…. heh)
She is just getting too cute! :) I love the headband; I need to start making and stocking up on those myself! ;) Oh, and btw: is there a style of pants that you find work best with the cloth diapers? (Since I remember you mentioning that’s what you went with.) I think I’m just worried about the bulk of cloth with pants (we’re planning on going with prefolds/covers at first, and then investing in other styles once she gets bigger). I keep shying away from buying any pants/leggings I see, but she’s going to need some since her due date is the edge of winter/spring. ;)
Good questions! But honestly, it’s not something to really worry about. It seems like all baby leggings fit differently. Lucy is leaner than some babies, so we have more of a problem with pants being too short when they fit her properly elsewhere. Most baby pants are stretchy, or at least the ones I get, so the bulk of cloth diapers doesn’t matter. So start buying now if you find good deals!
Just popped back here, remembering I hadn’t checked to see if you had answered! ;) Thanks for getting back to me! Shall take your advice on stocking up now… hehe!
Go with stretchy things with elastic waists, and not those “little adult” jeans type!
How have you not nommed her all up?? Oooh, she is just precious!
Shes so cute and lovely.
I don’t see what this big deal is….what hair? ;)
Aww, I am shocked by her hair every time I come here, but I have serious baby hair envy. My boys were mostly bald for over a year (I was also a bald baby). If it isn’t hair it’s something else though. You’ve got a cute new lady, and everyone is gonna want to get a word in.
Be prepared, it never stops. My daughter had the exact same head of hair as a newborn and she is 5 now and people still always comment on her hair!
She’s so beautiful! Love the comment fund idea, haha :)
Oh My Goodness! She is adorable. Thanks so much for posting over on the old site today — I must had forgotten in the busyness of life. This is the first time I’m seeing baby Lucy and she is ADORABLE! Congrats congrats! I’m also psyched about that vegan gluten free recipe!
Omg! Last time I came by yOur blog you were towards the end of your pregnancy& let me tell ya,
Sheeeeee is soooo cute!
My son was born with a mane& boo-ya! In your face baldies! (p.s. you are just as precious!)<3
She is just beautiful!!
She is just gorgeous and I love all her hair. At first I thought it was a wig bc I never saw a baby that small with so much lol.
