1970’s Parisian. Or so I’d like to think.
Perhaps it’s only the inclusion of the ol’ standby elements that made me think of this outfit as Parisian. (Oh you know what I’m talking about! Horizontal stripes, neck scarf…) But I dare say that my passions for the refinement of the early ’60s and the grungy hippiness of alternative ’90s fashions have found a happy middle ground. And it feels decidedly ’70s chic. Ingredients?
- A longer skirt situated perfectly at the waist. Natural fiber content is preferred.
- A casual blouse with subtle, classic patterns or prints.
- Natural colors with some boldness in hue. Burgundy is always a plus.
- Textural layers (the more [fur] trims the merrier- as seasons permit).
- Funky accessories. Usually a hat, and sometimes a scarf.
- Shoes are a tipping point. Boots are more hippie, lady shoes are more refined.

Ooh, I like this one! Very flattering. Nothing like a tailored jacket and some heels to make you feel like a lady!

Love the neck scarf…very cute outfit!
I love the rich burgundy color and the length of that skirt. This is a really lovely outfit. I have been obsessed with neck scarfs recently!
I think you nailed it. Chic!

This is such a sweet look. Love the rich Bordeaux colour of your skirt.
Tres jolie!
Oh em gee, how am I only now finding your blog? You’re so pretty and I love, love, love your style. You’re a total throwback to pin-up glamour girls.
Rock on, haute mama.
Super wonderful look! You look gorgeous!
Cute, cute, cute!
very pretty skirt :)
Very cute! I’ve found that high-waisted skirts work best on me since I’m rather curvy in the lower half of my body. Love that skirt a lot :)
Love this, so classy. You look beautiful :)
Amanda you wore this perfectly I love every detail. You look amazing!
Such a lovely skirt—you always find such beautiful shapes to create such wonderful silhouettes.
Really wonderful outfit! I love the shoes and the scarf. And you inspired me to photoshoot of my own outfit near the trees too! :)
You look perfectly French. And I love that you can rock the midi-length. I’m just scared of it. I’ve only done it a few times. Maybe I’ll just wear them around the house for a few days to get used to them before wearing out?
And, would you please visit me in Chicago!? You probably know more about the city than I do…
These photos are so beautiful. I love seeing pictures of your new tattoo! That red skirt is so pretty!
You look stunning in this outfit! So lovely.
Oh how beautiful! It is interesting to because it actually reminds me a bit of an audrey hepburn look and I know a lot of people have been talking about her this week. your outfit came to mind!
