My home is turning into a storefront.
Well, the shop is starting to take over our home. What can I say? I need a real brick and mortar storefront! It’s something I’ve been thinking about delving into this year. I have even started thinking about my business plan and maybe applying for a small business grant from the city of Canton, Ohio, where I live and love.
I used to have a room (that is meant to be the apartment’s living room) where I kept all of the shop goods, but the problem was, Phil was turning the big dining room table in our great room into a desk, and let’s face it, his work is less pretty than mine. So we decided to relegate his office space to the dining room. I think he likes it.
So, here I am. With clothes, hats, and clothes all over my home. Sometimes I don’t mind, and I actually find it inspiring. At least it motivates me to do more shop updates!
Another motivation? Hangers! It sounds so silly, but I only have so much room for clothing storage, and I only have so many hangers. After a couple of really great thrifting trips, I end up with piles of clothes, and it’s hard for me to stay organized. Hanging up clothes really helps me stay on top of the situation. So, whenever I make a sale, I get really excited about having extra hangers! Oh, it’s the little things in life, I suppose.
While I was getting orders ready to ship today, I was enjoying some vintage ’40s tunes. I really love the Andrew’s Sisters, and I’ve mentioned before, it’s a weird (and futile) ambition of mine to be the fourth Andrews Sister. That would be the day. Sigh.

I love the Andrews Sisters, too!
that skirt in the first picture is too cute!

you should def. apply for a small business grant.
that would be amazing!!
you always have the best pictures..even with the simplest things.
xoox
I’ll take all your hats <3 and I here loving buying hangers for when I go shopping never thinking i'lls oon run out of room.. lol
HI Mandy, i am also a seller of vintage but on Ebay. i was wondering where did you get your find and dandy tags from or did you make them?
Hi Roxanne,
I printed the tags out myself. Just a regular printer and kraft paper.
yay! you do need a storefront & then we can be boutique buddies. XXOO…
Oooh! An actual store would be perfect – especially if it’s taking over your house (which is kind of fun to see how it’s growing!) :)
Applying for a business grant is a great idea!
Goodluck with it! :)

From here your home looks like a dream! Vintage everywhere!
I love the way you tie your orders with ribbon.
I would come shop for sure!
Thanks Mandy!
i really enjoyed this post. the photos are beautiful! xoxo
Do you sell any dresses that aren’t elephant size?? xx
Wow, um, I’m not sure what you mean by elephant size. I sell clothes in normal women’s sizes, and have a lot of variety, I think. Sometimes the dresses in smaller sizes are the first to sell. Other times, I have smaller dresses sit around in inventory for quite a while.
start learning that 4th part harmony for your andrews sister audition. I’m so with you on that though! THey probably taught me a bit on how to harmonize when I was a little girl. . .since I’m in love with singing only harmonies.
that’s really cool that you’ve been so busy with your shop that your home is piling up, but at the same time I can understand that it could be a bit annoying since you want your home to be your home!
p.s. is there a way to subscribe to your comments? I never knew you responded directly on your blog so I probably have missed any responses over the past year and a half that I’ve commented on your blog.
that’s really rude that someone would say that you sell elephant size clothing.
Victoria, I’m not sure if there is a way. I should be able to respond directly to a comment and have that commenter be notified by e-mail, but for some reason my blog won’t allow it. So annoying. I think it might have to do with the way my programmer coded it. I will have to ask him today. (Totally thought the elephant comment was rude too! Just no reason for it at all.)
My sister and I used to dress up in my grandmas clothes and pretend we were the Andrew’s Sisters! Rum and Coca-cola was our favorite! xoxo
