I’ve got fur on my mind…
There’s just something about it… when the temperatures begin to drop, my mind starts drifting into furry territory. After the first of October, I find myself adding a bit of fur to outfits to give them that little bit of seasonal oomph. (Yes, I said oomph. I blame it on my high school choir ensemble director!)
Today I found myself at the antique mall, in search of a long bench for my living room. Of course, I lingered in the booths with pretty hats, and gloves, and furrrrrs… and remembered that I had been wanting to buy a big, fluffy faux fur coat. There was plenty of selection as far as fur coats go… but none of them faux.
Politics aside, I just can’t bring myself to wear a real fur coat… all that animal. Just freaks me out and makes me sad. I can do the collars, and little bits here and there. (Only vintage fur, though. Again, not trying to get political… but I like to give new life to old, forgotten fashion items.) Anyway… I’m on the hunt for new furry details, and thought I would share my inspiration with you!

I have a fox fur shrug that was given to me by my grandmother four years ago. I have yet to wear it, but after seeing this post, I’m thinking this just might be the season… Thanks :)
I get the same pining for fur come fall time. My aunt owns an incredible thrift store in Salt Lake, and she just gifted me a faux cheetah fur muff. Easily the best present I’ve ever gotten!
I’m happy you mentioned you want a muff because I was feeling nervous about wearing it. Glad to know I’m not the only one who wants to bring these back!
While at my Grandmothers one time I rooted through an old trunk that was just over flowing with furs-some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Maybe I will ask her if I can sport one this fall….
I know you prefer vintage, but I was just at Target last night and saw a whole bunch of great faux-fur jackets in the Merona women’s section. Super fun, cute cuts and not too pricey at all!
I also love fur (fake only) but I find that when I wear it people sometimes react weirdly too it, even when I tell them its fake! They say something along the lines of “ew, you’re wearing fur.” Like they think I enjoy killing animals or something. Do you ever get reactions like this?
You could always opt for faux fur…I’m thinking of getting a (faux) fur coat too…
