The Little Things
Ah, goals. It seems as though I have so many of them already, but I've just added a new one to the list. Take more photos! My goodness. You wouldn't think it would be so difficult for someone who loves taking photos and has a decent camera. But for some reason, I always leave my camera at home. And when I bring it with me, it so often remains in its case. Ahhh! Anybody else feel the same way? How do I overcome this? It's such a major frustration in my life.
I really do adore looking at photos of other people's lives, even if they might be strangers to me. Their photos encourage me to better document my own life. Sandra is a particular favorite of mine. It seems as though she is always up to something fun with her friends- and there are always lovely photos documenting their adventures!
Kim is another dear, one who I can happily call a friend (although we have never met in person! Yet.). She documents her life so well. The happy stuff, the every day things, and the sort of artsy goodness that makes you feel tingly all over. I'm always so inspired by what I see when I visit her little online home.
I just love peeking into the lovely lives of other like-minded souls across blogland. But for some reason, in my own life, I just seem to always forget to take out my camera and capture these moments. It's an area I fall short, and something I'm definitely going to work on changing.

Ohh, I love your blog to bits and pieces. I think you’re wonderful, perfect, enchanting.. truly inspiring! xx

I’m the same way… I carry my camera everywhere & then forget to take pictures! More pics coming up soon :)
I love your blog! I like that your photos are always so different from the ones I think to take (and I do so semi-professionally!). Keep up the great work… and keep that camera at the ready! If you’re looking for more photo glimpses, you can follow me here: throughkateslens.typepad.com. =) Cheers!
Ahhhh, yes. I’m a bad picture taker too.
Since I got my new camera it’s been inspiring to make more. Sometimes I play this game of ‘what sort of low lighting situation can i get myself into it’. then i set it at 1.4. and then i feel happy.
I love this post. I too am always leaving my camera behind…thank goodness for the cell phone! I feel like such a voyeur, but taking a peek into other people’s lives and minds really is the best part of reading blogs. Thanks Mandi!
i know exactly what you mean. that is why i just end up carrying it around my neck. that way i am bound to find something, and have my camera right there in time to snap a perfect shot
I completely understand. I’ve been trying really hard to photo document my life now that I’m back in the States. The only thing I realize is that I spend a lot more time behind the camera and that there are now a lot fewer pictures of me than before!
sing it sister, I am the same with my camera. I want so much to be documented but I’m too shy to do it.
I always feel the same way – like I never have my camera with me but always should! and beyond that – actually take pictures!
Oh my gosh, I’m the exact same way – camera stays in the bag, unless hubby takes it out. Also, once I actually do take pictures, the whole uploading them and posting them thing takes me at least 4 months. lol. So bad! And then I went to learn/use my new DSLR. but realized we’d lost the battery cable = no battery power. All odds are against me!
I’d love to hear how you overcome it, cuz I’m sure you will, you lovely-photo-taker-you! :)
I know what you mean about not taking photos some time – I have it down with family and some friends but not everyone.
Ugh. me too girl! I have a fancy camera and i rarely use it when i am just living life. It took me so long to save up for it, and I remember how many times I had thought to myself before owning it, “damn. if i juuuust had a nice camera right now…”
I think that it is hard for me to tote my camera along and hawl it out when I am just doing fun things with friends because 1. It is big and heavy. 2. I always lose the lens cap. 3. I don’t like feeling removed from what I am experiencing with my friends.
Maybe especially since many of my best friends are moving far away this month, i dont want to be taking photos because i want to cherish actually BEING in every moment with them. the sad thing though is that I wont have many nice photos to remember them with. Hrmph. I think it is time to start bringing my camera along…
ps, I dooo have some really lovely photos of my life in my latest blog post though :)

I feel the same. I loathe lugging my camera around-but I have learned I feel even worse when I miss out on a good photo. I have now become the girl who gets her camera out for everything, but at least I am also the girl who gets to relive everything again late at night by the light of her computer. Tis priceless.
Also you have a lovely blog-thanks for all the inspiration!
gah, you flatter me too much!
best piece of advice i can offer is: pass the camera around! people get really comfortable when they aren’t the only one getting snapped. if i’m in a friendly environment (like, not a pub haha!), i leave my camera on the table and tell people they are welcome to play around (i set it pretty automatic). people loosen up and it will remind you, if you see it sitting there. :D also keep it on your wrist/neck when you’re walking around some of the time (just make sure you don’t trip!).
lovette!
