The Lighthouse and the Whaler

Recently I've become re-enamored with Cleveland, Ohio, my neighbor city. I've even decided to stay here in the area, and not flee to a city where the coolness factor is already established and where success supposedly comes easier. Who knew there were so many cool kids here! And speaking of cool kids, a few local boys recently put together a band that I'm really excited about. I was able to hear them play an intimate show a couple of weeks ago, and afterwards sat a couple feet away watching them pack up their vehicle. I sat there thinking how I really wanted to talk to them, because they seemed like nice guys (and good Lord, their music was exactly what I have been needing in my spring music mix). However, I was a bit too intimated by their handsomeness, so I just sat there and watched them. :)

Please, take some time to listen to these two songs by The Lighthouse and the Whaler. You will not be disappointed, I assure you! And if you ever get a chance to see them live, you will definitely not be disappointed. I wasn't kidding about the handsomeness.

  6. Don’t you love when you hear a band from your home & they actually sound amazing! I really like their sound. Kind of a Band of Horses sound they have going on! I’m adding them to my list.

Great sound! They remind me of Jeremy Messersmith, who is from Minneapolis and is getting some national attention. Great lyrics, lots of things quietly going on.

having lived in a city with some “coolness factor” (chicago) i want to say that sometimes it’s not all its cracked up to be. i think it’s actually a lot harder to be successful or to get noticed because there are SO MANY people to compete with. i honestly think smaller sized cities are better for artistic people, because the cost of living is lower and there’s not as much pressure to be hugely financially successful. this might be a weird comment, but recently it’s become something I think about a lot, so I thought I’d share. :)
great band too! def feeling that band of horses vibe.
