House renovations
We’re been working furiously to finish up the last few major projects on the house. We, being myself and my brother. For those of you who didn’t know, my husband, Phil, and I have been living with my brother for the past year and a half and helping him fix up the place. And now, things are moving on towards the finish line!
The stairs were sort of my pet project. Although, in my imagination, I was just going to rip up the carpet, sand the wood (which was surprisingly in good shape!), and paint it with white enamel. However, Dad got involved and ended up disassembling the entire staircase!
This corner has been like this for the past year, and I really couldn’t take it any more. The carpet was shabby and didn’t match anything else in our house, and the stairs themselves were actually sagging quite a bit. So now, the stairs are being refinished by my brother, my dad, and myself. The problem is, this isn’t a one day job. So we’re left with a rather treacherous stairway that we have to climb, even if we just want to use the restroom! But I can see the finish line ahead, and so the motivation is lingering here for a bit longer. I’m looking forward to the end of construction projects around here… but to be honest… I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself when it’s all over!

very cool! is there a name for that yellow?
Love the yellow! that color is in my hallway. It makes me happy everytime i pass through it. The stairs are going to look amazing just like the rest of the house!!! Just make sure you don’t wax them. DH likes to wax our oak treads and it is so scary to walk down them.
You need a pully system! How fun would it be to use a rope to swing down…as long as you didn’t have to repair a hole in the wall when you were done with the stairs.
Wow, the yellow wall looks fabulous!
