National Scrapbook Day!
Sometimes it can be difficult using Hambly paper as a background (unless you are using one of their coordinating papers) because the graphics are so strong. So, whenever I use a screen printed sheet for a background, I use a simple pattern with not a lot of contrast in colors.
Using the overlays can be a similar experience. The look is pretty graphic and bold, so I toned mine down by using cardstock just a shade lighter behind my overlay.
After using the skyline picture, the overlay, and patterned paper as my background, there was already quite a lot going on, so my last piece of pattern I kept simple and tucked behind a picture.
Stitching ties the whole thing together (as well as serving to keep the overlay in place). Besides machine sewing, I’m really not one for embellishments on my scrap pages. But rub ons make a nice finishing touch, don’t you think?

I actually DID try two things I have never done before, but they’re not in my blog just yet. Will be soon.
One was to use fabric instead of patterned paper (I used both, but you know what I mean) and the other was simply to combine challenges while making an LO. I’ve always just made one LO for each challenge – socombining was in itself a challenge for me. Very fun.
