Mandi, you are just so down to earth….love that you are so willing to open your mind to new things….so many people think they know it all when they don’t and never will because there is just to much out there to learn!!! Anyways you just amaze me with your creative work!! When I’m in a slump…I just back off!! Wait for something to hit me that I JUST HAVE TO DO!! Hugs
ummmm…i look @ your blog and drool when i am in a slump!
actually, i normally have to back off from everything for a while and then it comes.
i think we pressure ourselves too much to “perform” instead of just letting go and letting it come as it should.
we inundate ourselves with so much that it crowds out our own creative selves IMHO.
but what do i know? LOL!
I put on some sweet Indie music (may I recommend “Belle & Sebastian”) and look at galleries to gain inspiration of some sort…whether it’s colors, a technique or a cool layout idea.
Good luck chickie! I know you’ll whip up something fabulous!
if I’m in a slump, I just move on to something else. . . baking something, reading, cleaning the house. just trying not to force myself to do anything. Organizing my art space works too, because then usually I find some photo or paper that inspires me to start working again!
by the way, i love your blog. . i’ve been reading awhile but I don’t know if I’ve ever left a comment before. :)
what do i do when i’m in a slump? i come to your blog! haha…you always have major inspiration!
and right on about the whole artist thing…artists think they are in a league of their own, and unfortunately, i’ll probably never be in that league…art major and all. oh well :) i’m with you in the fact that i love creating and that’s what i do. amen.
all right friend…hope you’re doing well!
I call you an artist.:) I read your post yesterday and it made sense to me. People living inspired and inspiring others = good. The one you linked to was more confusing – why does it matter so much what you call yourself or how you label your own art? Why does it have to be defined and redefined as art or scrapbooking or both or neither. hmmm…I am going off on a tangent and possibly not making a lot of sense when all I really wanted to say was that I really like the stuff you make. And – that if you are in a slump, don’t push it and just do other things that make you happy for a while. Let life come naturally. :)
When I’m in a slump I just dial up some “Here’s lookin’ at me kid” on typepad and I feel all better! :)
I think we should coin a new phrase:
“creativist”
you’ll be back to feeling lovely soon…
I hate slumps.
but honestly, I just don’t do anything, I know the desire will come back, it always does, and I probably needed the break anyways.
but I do hate slumps.
I complain and grumble and be generally pissy. Of course.

When I’m in a slump, I tend to eat, but I am trying to stop that. :) If I’m in a slump, I just let it be and don’t try to pressure myself.
