Inspiration and Perspiration
I finished the headboard. One more step.
Many more steps to go until the bedroom is completed!
There’s empty walls, frumpy dressers, and empty corners.
I’ve had some motivation from Creative
people places and things
that inspire. Inspire creativity and productivity.
I become inspired to make.
Sometimes art.
Sometimes a lovelier home.
The only problem is,
the lovelier home is often more costly,
monetarily and physically.
I had no idea that making a new headboard
would also make for sore glutes.
Now I know how my dad is in such good shape,
even though he doesn’t work out.
He’s always squatting and lifting and all that crap.
and thank God for it. I would never have known
that an exterior wall in our office
was just floating in mid air.
No footer. No anchor. No nothin.
And no now we have no wall.
That’s right, no wall on a side of our house.
For two weeks until the footer cures.
Oh daddy. You always make a big production of things.
But they’re always done right.
At least we no longer have an abyss next to the office.
Although, the exposed wires are a bit harrying.
And potentially hair raising, if you know what I mean.
Hopefully, for your sake, you don’t. :)
Anyway, things are in a bit of an upheaval at my home.
In case you couldn’t tell.
But I take heart in the fact that the labor is free,
things are getting done right,
and someday soon the house will be fabulous.
Someday.
Someday.
And for now, I comfort in my sole place of peace.
The bedroom.
And I mean that in all the ways you wish to take it.
;)

How in the hell did you get your headboard to be so fabulous!!! I love your ‘Love’ text. You should sell them and I would be your first customer. FIRST!
I’ve been drooling over the velvet, tufted headboards at UO and trying to talk myself into making one instead. However, I have no tools and less skill than creativity. Damn.
Love getting to see this room come together and enjoy our love/hate relationships with putting a house together.
LOVE the LOVE headboard:)
So different!!! Awesome.
love the headboard. your room is so lovely. sorry about all the house drama. I know what you mean. Since we had the fire, we have been a little roof-less and have had random people and things left out and about for months.

Okay. That headboard is fabulous!
Like. Super duper crazy fabulous.
Your room is coming along nicely! I have a house of all things in need of repair so I feel your pain with the wall and footings etc. Soooooo feel your pain! In the end you will love it that much more because you did it yourself!
I LOVE that quilt and the chandelier in your bedroom. The headboard is killer too. Thank God for handy dad’s who come to the rescue!
dude, that headboard is amazing! the bedroom is looking so fresh and bright! what a great little haven to have just in time for a missing wall!

your bedroom is beautiful! and don’t worry, it sounds like you have a great helper….i’m sure things will get done in no time.
oh my heck! i love your room. :D
are you serious?!? the jealousy of me wanting your headboard is going to kill me! you should do a brief tutorial about how you did your headboard. you are very lucky to have such a rad dad– my dad was the same–he could build/do anything, but he died 8 years ago, and now i have to do all my own home-improvement, so make sure you hug him tight and feel very lucky. (whoa, i didn’t mean to be quite that much of a debbie-downer! i just miss having a free/competent/trustworthy fixer-of-everything.) eeesh, now i sound like a crazy girl.
i mean, i like your headboard/room. ;)
So, by now you that you have to tell us all in detail about how you made that headboard. So I won’t go into that. ;).
BUT, that yellow and brown, is it a bangle, bracelet, whatever, where did you get that!? I must know all your secrets!
OH! and those sheets, MUST KNOW where you got those sheets!
the room is absolutely lovely!!!! making a head board has been on my lists of things to do for quite some time … i just have no idea of how to go about it. guess i gotta get some tools first!
love your headboard!

i can’t wait to get on my “house” projects…i think i’d “love” being in this bed more if i had that headboard:)
