domesticated?

I fear my wild days might soon be behind me…  You see, I have within me a desire to make a quilt.  Not only is it strange to me that I actually LIKE a quilt…. but I actually want to MAKE one?  Very strange indeed.

I never really liked quilts until I saw the ones at Anthropologie.  Love them.  Love their quilts!

Anthro
For a wedding gift, Phil’s gma HANDstitched us a quilt, and being the jerk that I am was kinda disapointed that we got a quilt and not something from our registry.  10 months later, it’s on our bed and I love that I have something his gma made and I actually think it’s so cute cause it’s got really rad vintage fabric (yes, I said rad) and lots of different colors.

Yesterday I was looking at different fabrics and went down a rabbit trail that led me to Denyse Schmidt quilts.

Sarita

I think I found the perfect fabric!  The line’s called Katie Jump Rope.  Here’s a pic:

I also liked The Flea Market Fancy Collection:

So I think what I want to do it draw out an organic artsy kinda pattern and try to piece the fabric together in a style similar to this fabric:

Anthro2
I think it would be cool if I could piece the fabric together in a simpler version of this quilt from Antrho.  Obviously much simpler.  But that’s the style I’m going for.

Anyway… that’s my discovery this week.  I like quilts.  huh.

DH said I have too many hobbies and quilting is out of the question. I have been secretly thinking I want to join a freestyle block club. That quilt from A’s is just beautiful. Happy Quilting~!

    Hi there,
I was just checking out your blog (which is so entertaining, by the way) and I saw your interior model and thought “Holey moley that looks so familiar!!” I also am in a class where we design and build models so I’m psyched to see you’re doing it too! Yours is so beautiful! Did it take forever and a day to construct? What type of adhesive do you use? I’m not sure I really dig the model building process…some crucial element (you know, like half the building) usually gets dropped or sliced through and by then I can clear a room with the expletives that come-a-flyin’ out of my mouth while I wield an X-acto knife in my hand…I’m sure you know what I mean, Hahaha! But anyways, maybe that was too much info :) thanks for sharing the photos, you’re awesome.
