HOUSE PLANNING : Kitchen Dreaming

You guys. We’ve barely finished the nursery (which I will be sharing soon!), and I’m already setting my sights on the outdated and untouched kitchen of our 1959 ranch. It’s important to me, when redesigning a space, to stay true to the architecture around it. We have a brick wall, terrazzo floors, a built-in oven, and original flat-front wooden cabinets (check out photos here). So, I’ve been dreaming of some fresh, vintage-inspired ways to change up the space while staying true to its original character. Not that we’ll be making purchases any time soon, but I’ve been dreaming up some big plans, and thought I’d share with you! Check the links below for product details.

Nice collection! I love those Big Chill fridges, but they only come with 1 year warranties which scares me a little since they’re so pricey…they’re so pretty though.

I love the fridge too! It would be such a happy, bright spot in the kitchen and I think it would make me immensely happy looking at it every morning.

Love everything you picked out…especially the food=love print and the wallpaper. Looking forward to seeing your home evolve over the years. :)

    That fridge is so dreamy!

The fridge! I want that in my mint & pink kitchen. If you would like the tea jar, it’s yours! Just let me know & I will send it your way!

  6. I have a big chill and I adore it. I have had it for almost 3 years and have had exactly zero problems with it. They are also really easy to contact and deal with. Love the color you chose!

    Thanks doll,

i’ve been thinking about big chill (or smeg) for our kitchen. choosing the color scares me, though! love this color (+ green + mustard + orange too). love your vibes!!

    all looks great together

  10. My grandparents have those canisters and I’ve been looking for a similar clear set for forever! I’m planning on doing my own copy-cat version by cutting vinyl letters with my digital cutter.

LOVE your choices!! & i LOVE those fridges & was dreaming of one when we gutted our kitchen. i have said it before & i will say it again–i 100% advocate vintage appliances!!! our refrigerator looks similar to the big chill (it’s white, but minty green ones do pop up), has PLENTY of space (i made sure to look for one with a separate freezer, not just the little freezer box in the fridge compartment), works perfectly, has not been a problem as far as the electric bill, and was only $150 on craigslist. you have to dedicate yourself to serious CL searching, but it’s worth it.

seriously, our whole kitchen remodel (brand new (to us) EVERYTHING–we took it down to the studs) was less than the price of a big chill. you & phil are so resourceful. i know that whatever you end up doing it will be fantastic!!
