Movie Monday- Valley of the Dolls
Based upon the 1966 book by Jacqueline Susann, Valley of the Dolls is a visually lush expos? on the destruction that fame and success brings to three young women. Crazed with ambition, love, and the need to “stay on top,” each one of the characters finds her own way into the valley of the dolls (aka pills).
The story has such a charming beginning, successfully attaching the viewer to each of the characters, and bringing us along the emotional roller coaster that each of the girls experiences as the plot continues.
Valley of the Dolls is sad at times, but also a very fun movie to watch. I loved the costumes, sets, and colors in the film- and even the music was entertaining. I will also admit that I shed at least one tear, so be warned that this film isn’t just candy-colored sets and pretty, martini sipping girls.
I haven’t seen it, by I definitly will do it soon =)
Never seen it before. looks and sounds very interesting though!! I’ll have to think about adding this to my que.

I have had this book on my nightstand FORever. I need to push myself to read it so I can watch the movie. Get this – my mom is VERY conservative and she was like…Oh don’t read that! hee hee!
I have been wanting to see this. Thanks Mandi.
Good movie and great book!
This movie’s on my Netflix queue… I feel like it’d be worth it to watch, just for the visuals!
one of my favorites!!
I just finished the book a couple days ago and now I’m waiting for the movie to arrive in the mail. I’m so stoked.
I loved the book. I thought the movie was good but I feel it’s defintely one of those ones that if you’re expecting the movie to be just like the book…you’re going to be disappointed. Loved the style though!
